Purposeful Facial Esthetics
Treating to a healthy, beautiful face with Michael Gunson DDS, MD Friday September 12th, 2025
The face is an incredibly complicated system and its function is absolutely integral to overall health. Modern society doesn't usually describe faces as healthy but instead focuses mostly on esthe2cs. An esthe2c face is actually the result of a healthy face. Modern treatment techniques, such as virtual orthodontics planning, 3D facial analysis, virtual orthognathic surgery or Digital Smile Design, mainly focus on the form and posi2on of parts. True facial health and facial esthetics treatment not only requires the correct form and position of its parts but the diagnosis and treatment of facial function. Clinicians need to understand the purpose and function of the face (lips, chin, cheeks teeth, joints) and all of their functional interactions to properly and consistently achieve treatment results that are healthy and esthetic. In this lecture, we will discuss the purpose of the face, how the face accomplishes its purpose and how unhealthy growth and development negatively affect esthetics and function. Treatment planning for facial health will also be discussed.
“Beyond the Single Tooth” — The Shift from Single Teeth to the Whole Person
Complex Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning with Dr. Paresh Shah Friday November 7th, 2025
As DSOs and school debt continue to grow, there are many dentists that wish to create successful niche practices. Most of us never received the tools to look at the big picture and understand why dentition and supporting structures can break down or fail. Most of us are good “single-tooth” or “reparative dentists,” but few are good “interdisciplinary” dentists. This lecture will take you through the evolution from a being a tooth-by-tooth dentist to a comprehensive interdisciplinary dentist. Furthermore, teeth are always moving, and bites are always changing. Learn how to create stability through orthodontics and interdisciplinary treatment to improve patient care. This approach will help your patients and create a more successful and healthy practice. Participants will be taken through a series of real-life, everyday cases to highlight concepts being presented.
